Ph.d. Irena Veisaite currently holds the position of OSI (Open Society Institute) ombudsman. In the past she has served both as the chairman of the Open Society Fund–Lithuania board and as a member of OSI-Budapest’s board. By profession a philologist and theatre critic. She has taught world literature and the history of theatre at the Vilnius Pedagogical University. She is a member of the Lithuanian Theatre Union, the Chair of the United World Colleges (UWC) National Committee in Lithuania, and a member of the UWC International Board. For the last seven years Professor Versaite has been involved in Holocaust education issues.

Publication include: She is the author of many articles, the co-author of some textbooks, and the editor of books mainly connected with theatre.
