Written Message by the Minister of Justice of Romania, Mrs. Rodica Stanoiu Written Message by the Minister of Justice of Brazil, Mr. José Gregori Written Message by the Minister of Justice of Romania, Mrs. Rodica Stanoiu Stanoiu, Rodica Message from the Romanian Minister of Justice Prime Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to express the satisfaction of the Romanian Government for having the possibility of attending this International Forum aiming to improve the capabilities of democracies to counteract and prevent xenophobia, racism, anti-semitism and other extremist ideas and movements in our societies and, in the same time, to promote the exchange of experience and knowledge between government delegates, experts and professionals. Romania upholds its strong willingness to fight against all forms of xenophobia, racism, anti-semitism and related intolerance. Legal, institutional and political frameworks allow finding solutions to ensure the rights and freedoms of Romanian citizens, without any discrimination of groups based on nationality, language, race or religion. Romania has intensified its efforts to enact legal measures in the field of combating intolerance. In that respect, it is worth mentioning the close cooperation of Romanian authorities with the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance and the UN Committee on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination. In that respect, the country report is offering the necessary details. The opening for signature, in Rome, on the 4th of November 2000, of a new European instrument in the fight against intolerance, namely the 12th Protocol to the Convention for the protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, gives a special content to the national actions and responsibilities. Romania has signed the above-mentioned document and it is carrying out the necessary preparations for its ratification. The topic of the International Forum is very important through the conclusions and the message to be delivered. The Human Being as a concept has been slowly deteriorated. With no doubt, it is dangerous to consider and to approach not the Human Being as an entity, but as a part of different human species. We ought to remember not to emphasize on the differences, but on the UNIVERSALITY of the HUMAN BEING. Thank you. >> Back to top |
