Rally with A River Changes Course

In recent weeks, we have been sharing A River Changes Course with communities across the world -- Seattle, Sydney, Austria, Belgium, Munich, San Francisco, Seoul, Bologna, London, Bristol, and Edinburgh, to name a few -- culminating with a week-long screening at MoMA in New York. And as we begin to open discussions in Cambodia and all over the world through our screening events, the issues of factory labor rights, land-grabbing, and over-fishing are exploding across Cambodia.

In response to these recent events, we're launching our CHANGING THE COURSE campaign on Rally.org to help change Cambodia's future. We're rallying to bring A River Changes Course to 60 universities and villages across Cambodia over the next 12 months. Through these screenings, Cambodians will be encouraged to analyze their current situation, and within their respective communities, determine how to respond to this rapid change. Your contribution will help open the door to critical dialogue and discussion about the most significant and challenging issues facing Cambodia today.

Please contribute $25 to our CHANGING THE COURSE campaign and support a movement to inspire, educate, and empower!

With the election exactly one month away, Kalyanee will be making a trip to Cambodia. Alongside The Documentation Center of Cambodia, we will capture scenes from the election - from door-to-door canvassing in villages to noisy demonstrations in Phnom Penh - in order to best understand the continual evolution of Cambodia's democratic system.

In an escalation of protests, 4,000 factory workers, like Khieu Mok, marched into a Nike factory last month, demanding higher wages and better working conditions. This month, 500 protesters from 24 communities across the country gathered in Phnom Penh to draw attention to land disputes they say are frequently ending with imprisonment as well as eviction. Through this trip, we hope to tell the many stories of the Cambodian people as they make their voices heard in this election.
