On April 3, 2014, Public Village Forum (PVF) was held in Preah Rumkel commune, Thalabarivath district, Stung Treng province. Nearly 200 villagers, students, teachers and local authorities gathered together to engage in a publicdiscussion on the history of Democratic Kampuchea (DK) and also hear an update on the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). This commune shared a common border with Laos, thus making it easy for somevillagers to flee into Laos for survival before and during the DK rule (1975-1979). According to the local authority, the Cambodian refugees into Laos were put at thousands, who have returned after 1979.
