On May 9, 2014, a Public Village Forum was held inside Prasat Banteay Chhmar monastery. Although the Khmer Rouge history and the legal process at Extraordinary Chamber in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) were the objectives of the forum, over one hundred villagers, Buddhist monks and clergies, local authority and policemen also took that opportunity to link the discussion to the Banteay Chhmar temple, which is in ruin.
