Dressing up neatly, fifty villagers from five provinces took on a bus heading for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Among the nineteen teams in twelve provinces, DC-Cam's Witnessing Justice Project invited the villagers including Cham or Khmer Islam to hear the Trial Chamber's pronouncement of Verdict on Case 002/01 against Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan inside the ECCC's court room. At around 10:30 AM of August 7, 2014, Judge Nil Nonn, president of the Trial Chamber, declared that both Nuon Chea, former President of Kampuchean People's Representative Assembly or former ideologue, and Khieu Samphan, former Head of State of Democratic Kampuchea (DK) be sentenced to life in prison.
