On August 7, 2014, DC-Cam held live screenings of the verdict pronouncement in Case 002/01 involving two senior Khmer Rouge leaders, Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan in 20 locations throughout Cambodia. The verdict read by the ECCC's Judge President Nil Non was broadcast live on all local television networks. These photos were taken at a live screening at Srayang Pagoda, located in Srayang commune, Kulen district, Preah Vihear province, nearby to the Angkorian temple complex Koh Ker, built in the reign of Jayavarman IVth. The event was attended by approximately 200 villagers that included commune council members, village chiefs, police officers, and villagers. At least one man in attendance was weeping following the reading of the verdict. He later stated that the Khmer Rouge had imprisoned him and that the life sentence handed down to the defendants was not enough. He had suffered during the years of the Khmer Rouge, and despite the defendants appearing on television as prisoners, he wanted the world to know of his suffering and was upset that Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan's stories were being told.
