The verdict screening was held at Wat Kou (Kou Buddhist monastery), located in Kuok Mon Commune, Banteay Ampil District, Oddar Meanchey Province. There were few reasons that the screening took place in this district. First, it was a last Khmer Rouge's stronghold which majority of former Khmer Rouge soldiers integrated and served government in 1990s. Second, it was in remote and cross-border area where local people lack access to public media. Third, Kuok Mon Commune, Banteay Ampil district consisted of cultural heritage such as iron-age archaeological sites, Hindu temples: Prasat Tamon Thom, Prasat Ta Krabei and Prasat Chan where situated about 8 Km from Wat Kou. It was found that those former Khmer Rouge cadres who have posted in the province to defend Prasat Tamon Thom and Prasat Ta Krabei temples from Thai military entering. According to the former Khmer Rouge cadres, less people from Cambodia access to the temple. It is open for public between 9AM-3PM.

In the morning session, approximately 450 participants attended the verdict screening. According to the interview, there were mixed reactions. Few male adult expressed that they seemed to partially satisfy with the verdict because it was bit late for them. They felt they had waited too long for the verdict. They even wanted to take revenge from the children of Nuon Chea. It would better for them if Nuon Chea would feel suffering as they experienced losing their children. One man even wished Nuon Chea and Khiev Samphan would be charged by a death sentence. In the meantime, some felt it was enough and satisfied with the verdict though it was a bit long, for they did not have to wait for the result/verdict anymore. Few said since the accused were too old, there was no need to take anything seriously. In afternoon session, there was documentary film screening of the "River Changes Course." During the two sessions, architect students sketched to capture the short moment of people following the trial's pronouncement.
