Today, four hundred villagers from Banteay Meachey attended the hearing at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Those villagers got up early in the morning to catch the buses organized by ECCC to make their trip to Phnom Penh before the hearing starts at 9:00 am.

Kaing Guek Eav alias Duch testified that "Angkar" refers to Pol Pot only and that he was the most powerful person of Communist Party of Kampuchea. Few days before the Vietnamese arrived in Phnom Penh, Nuon Chea, according to Duch, ordered him to evacuate all prisoners out of S-21. "When Vietnamese tanks arrived on Monivong BLDV, Nat [who was a former chief of S-21], killed four prisoners with bayonet," said Duch.

Duch also testified about the arrest of his former boss at M-13, Vorn Vet, who was arrested on November 2, 1978 on the order of Ta Mok.

Duch said that he never met Ieng Sary in person during Democratic Kampuchea; however, he saw him twice—the first time was at Olympic Stadium, and the second one was on January 6, 1979 when he was in the car and Duch was riding motorbike along Preah Sihanouk BVLD.
