On May 23-27, 2016, the Sleuk Rith Institute—a permanent Documentation Center of Cambodia (DC-Cam) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) has organized a pre-service teacher training at Phnom Penh Regional Training Center. The five-day training program involved over sixty trainees who were natives of six provinces—Ratanak Kiri, Mondul Kiri, Preah Vihear, Koh Kong, Stung Treng, and Phnom Penh. They will become in-service teachers in those provinces starting this coming November 2016. The history of Democratic Kampuchea (1975-1979) will be integrated into every classroom with the hope that teaching this history will promote memory, reconciliation and peace-building in Cambodia, both for these pre-service teachers and generations to come. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum also sent eight of its staff members to attend this training.
