A man from Takaev who was
assigned to the 17 April Hospital (the former Russian Hospital)
recalled that he was accused of being CIA for supposedly having left
scissors inside a military patient upon whom an abdominal operation
had been performed. The arrest was effected by female cadre named
Seng. The accused was loaded in a closed vehicle and taken to a
place where he was cuffed, shackled, beaten and starved. He was
interrogated, his responses being recorded, but he denied being CIA.
Other prisoners were being taken away for execution, but one of the
cadre, a woman named Heuan or Kheuan from Kah Thom, helped him
escape. She seemed to fall in love with him and undid his
restraints, so he and the other five in his cell were able to flee,
including three women seamstresses.
